(V.25-26) Some today wait for God to directly talk to them (v.26 mentions being called). What is implied here is the character of those who embrace or preach the gospel, when they reach the condition of wanting to obey God. It does not refer to a direct revelation from God.
The teachings of Christ promotes humbleness, not boasting. As mentioned previously the scholarly unbelievers regard the things of God foolish and weak. The people of high worldly stature, that are praised, are usually the weakest members of the church.
