Scot Dale: What makes a mockery of the purposes and character of God is not one who warns that those who commit habitual serious sins and does not repent thereof cannot inherit nor enter the Kingdom of heaven; The one who mocks, you know who they are?

God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.Galatians 6:7

“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Your Post #12 states: Paul is VERY specific with his use of the word “inherit” and it’s meaning has nothing to do with werely “entering”. It has EVERYTHING to do with the possession of rewards which are MERITED by holy living. Salvation (entering the kingdom) is NEVER obtained by merit.

You are right that Salvation is never obtained by merit and that rewards are merited by holy living…i have no argument with that. But BY YOUR DOCTRINE- OSAS(called by others as the free grace position AND BY THE WAY YOU WANT IT TO APPEAR,

1 Corinthian 6:9-11 would appear like this:

“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not INHERIT the kingdom of God? But the unrighteous will ENTER the Kingdom of heaven becoz they believe despite w/o repentance! Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall INHERIT the kingdom of God; but they will ONLY ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD because they believe even though they did not repent!

i DOUBT IT IF YOU BE CONVINCED BY THE FOOLISHNESS OF YOUR DOCTRINAL POSITION?

Post #11 makes the all too common mistake of saying that “inheriting” the Kingdom is the same as “entering” the Kingdom. This is a fatal doctrinal error. Paul is VERY specific with his use of the word “inherit” and it’s meaning has nothing to do with werely “entering”. It has EVERYTHING to do with the possession of rewards which are MERITED by holy living. Salvation (entering the kingdom) is NEVER obtained by merit.

This error is generally the result of another error that essentially says; “In heaven, ALL Christians will receive equally of EVERYTHING that belongs to Christ”. This error is pervasive in the churches and makes a mockery of the purposes and character of God.

Roland G. The verse above is clear. If a believer who continues in his sin does not repent he cannot enter the Kingdom…why else would Paul warn the believers if despites their sin they still be in the Kingdom of God. You should make a difference between what are serious sins THAT LEAD TO DEATH and petty sins.

Monsieur Tiuche (Post #9): The verses before and after this verse help to explain the context and meaning. Tractorman is spot on @ Post #4. John 13:6-10 compares salvation to a full body wash (louo) and a partial wash (nipto) to show believers have to confess sin often (1 John 1:9), but never lose their salvation. Believers “louo” one time only.

PAUL REBUKES BELIEVERS NOT TO CONTINUE IN THEIR HABITUAL SINS…for believers who does not repent of their sins will not inherit the kingdom of heaven.

“the unrighteous” refers to anyone who does not have the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ, that is, unbelievers.

The judges had not believed in the Gospel message. So, they had no opportunity to inherit the kingdom of God. Paul put them into classifications in the second part of the verse.

Unfortunately, your question is one that has been debated for centuries and will probably go on until Jesus returns. However, I hope you continue to study this on your own because I believe the answer to your question CAN be known and is quite clear and satisfactory.

In order to answer your question, I find it very helpful to study 1 Cor 5 in its entirety. If you can answer the following question; “Is the immoral man of 1 Cor 5 regenerate or unregenerate?” then you will have your answer regarding the verse presently in question.

Michael, God loves every human being, but we have to follow HIS rules. And HIS rules in regard of homosexuality didn’t change and are still valid today. Homosexual relationships - married or casual - are EVIL.

The image of God is both male and female and is reflected in a godly union between male and female where the creative power of God, His life-giving, His self-giving and His moral nature are perfectly expressed. This is only possible in a heterosexual union.

When God created a partner for Adam He created Eve - not another Adam. This means that perfect partnership requires some level of difference as well as a level of similarity so great that Adam could cry out loudly, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh”. Sexual intimacy between a man and a woman is the normal method of male/female bonding (emotionally and physically) because it corresponds to the design of our bodies and because it is the normal means by which offspring are created.

If God had intended the human race to be fulfilled through both heterosexual and homosexual marriage, He would have designed our bodies to allow reproduction through both means and made both means of sexual intercourse healthy and natural. Homosexual anal intercourse carries a high risk of disease, this is recognized in Scripture where gay men are said to receive in their bodies the due penalty for their error (Romans 1:27).

I know the Bible condemns homosexuality here if the word ‘effeminate’ really means ‘homesexual’. But in this modern-world we can’t deny gays to marry anymore.

Christo - I believe your answer lies in verse 11 as Paul writes ‘and such WERE some of you’ meaning that this ‘laundry list’ described some of the Corinthians BEFORE they became believers. So verses 9-10 are describing the LOST (for they will NOT inherit the kingdom of God), but unfortunately, these sins were also being practiced by some of the Corinthian believers as well. One of the (many) problems in Corinth was spiritual IMMATURITY. They had not yet reckoned themselves dead indeed unto sin. Some (many?) of them were still living much like they did when they were lost. There were factions, divisions, sexual scandal, lawsuits, marital disorder, abuses of the gifts of the Spirit, etc. Paul is exhorting them that the behaviors described in verses 9-10 should NOT be describing or named among them but unfortunately were. He is therefore rebuking them for their continued sin.

All scriptures is given for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the MAN OF GOD (believers in God) maybe perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. All Scriptures is for believers benefit…and also as a warning & testimony to unbelievers…(see 2 Timothy 3:15-17 & John 5:24, Luke 9:44 & John 8:21)..

(V.9-11) Here we see what the Corinth church came out of. Sexual immorality, drunkards, swindlers, etc. Even they could be saved.

They were redeemed (bought back) from these sins through the name of Jesus Christ and the Spirit of God.

We see three phases of salvation. “Justified”, “sanctified” and “washed”. “Washed” is being cleansed and forgiven Cf. Acts 22:16. “Sanctified” means to be set apart through this cleansing Cf. Heb. 13:12; 9:14. “Justified” means to be acceptable to God as being righteous through this same cleansing Cf. Rom 4:6-8.
