Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

One Bible Commentary on 1 Peter 2: 7
1

In Acts 4 when Peter was being interrogated by the Jewish leader concerning the healing of a paralyzed man, “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. ***This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.*** Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

The Jewish rulers were rejecting the Scriptures and building their own new religion, which after the destruction of the temple turned into Rabbinic or Talmudic Judaism. Yet at the same time, God was building his 3rd and last temple, which is the church, and the very stone that the Pharisees rejecting from their building became the head of the corner of God’s new temple.
