Martin Luther often put a political spin on religious ideas as you will see from reading the following letter in which he and his fellow theologians gave consent to a polygamous marriage. I have only included the last portion of that letter as it includes the sections where Luther and his fellow theologians gave their approval of that polygamous marriage. The letter was written and signed by Luther and other well known theologians of the reformation, some of whom attended the marriage as well. Enjoy reading.

XXI. But after all, if your Highness is fully resolved to marry a second wife, we judge it ought to be done secretly, as we have said with respect to the dispensation demanded on the same account, that is, that none but the person you shall wed, and a few trusty persons, know of the matter, and they, too, obliged to secrecy under the seal of confession. Hence no contradiction nor scandal of moment is to be apprehended ; for it is no extraordinary thing for Princes to keep concubines; and though the vulgar should be scandalized thereat, the more intelligent would doubt of the truth, and prudent persons would approve of this moderate kind of life, preferably to adultery, and other brutal actions. There is no need of being much concerned for what men will say, provided all goes right with conscience. So far do we approve it, and in those circumstances only by us specified ; for the Gospel hath neither recalled nor forbid what was permitted in the law of Moses with respect to marriage. Jesus Christ has not changed the external economy, but added justice only, and life everlasting, for reward. He teaches the true way of obeying God, and endeavors to repair the corruption of nature.

XXII. Your Highness hath therefore, in this writing, not only the approbation [approval] of us all, in case of necessity, concerning what you desire, but also the reflections we have made thereupon; we beseech you to weigh them, as becoming a virtuous, wise, and Christian Prince. We also beg of God to direct all for his glory and your Highness’s salvation.

XXIII. As to your Highness’s thought of communicating this affair to the emperor before it be concluded, it seems to us that this Prince counts adultery among the lesser sort of sins ; and it is very much to be feared lest his faith being of the same stamp with that of the Pope, the Cardinals, the Italians, the Spaniards, and the Saracens, he make light of your Highness’s proposal, and turn it to his own advantage by amusing your Highness with vain words. We know he is deceitful and perfidious, and as nothing of the German in him.

XXIV. Your Highness sees, that he uses no sincere endeavor to redress the grievances of Christendom; that he leaves the Turk unmolested, and labors for nothing but to divide the empire, that he may raise up the house of Austria on its ruins. It is therefore very much to be wished that no Christian Prince would give into his pernicious schemes. May God preserve your Highness. We are most ready to serve your Highness.

Angel: Since you insist that polygamy is a sin,could you please answer my questions on 2 Samuel 12:8…stick to this verse and question and DO NOT DIGRESS! Remember you are nearing 40 years old now…and it is the time of testing!

1).Tell us who was the prophet who spoke this Word?
2). Tell us whose Word this verse really is?
3). To whom was it address?
4). Why was it address to him? What was his sins here?
5). What is the difference between his having many wives and the adding of Bathsheba as his wife?
6). What was it that God is telling King David in this verse?

Answer the questions that truthfully… if you answer in order to mislead then that is sin! You want to be keep on the dark by rambling with nonsense just to tickle your own ego-like a puff-up child! So please answer honestly and carefully!

i fully grasp what is taking place here in the book of 2 samuel.

as for sin; sin is sin; and we need to learn to stop trying to classify it, stop trying to categorize it, and stop trying to put a measure of how bad each sin is.

it’s all sin and it’s all great before the eyes of GOD.

and as for the definition of adultery and fornication; i know and understand them both from GOD’S view of them and not man’s definition of them.

and as you stated to me in another scripture of samuel to verify the acceptance of polygamy from GOD; i will never practice nor partake of polygamy; for it is not of GOD.

but as for yourself and others its your choice.

and i shall pray for you all; and if i am wrong; then i know there are those praying for me.

and if it is GOD’S TRUTH; then we all shall find GOD’S TRUTH for he shall reveal it to us all; for GOD’S HOLY LIVING WORD can never be divided from his truth.

one word, one body, one mind, one voice.

Angel: I don’t think you really understand 2 Samuel 12:8. Neither do you understand what is ADULTERY or FORNICATION! Your explanation is like a square peg in a round hole!

king david was a symbol and a type/shadow; being used here for believers; to see the end of days and how it was to be in the kingdom of heaven as the true sons and daughters reigning with their king; our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

ONE bridegroom and ONE BRIDE ( which is singular ); from across the world.

just as GOD told the jews he was giving them a paper of divorce and was to take on a new BRIDE (once again singular ) for his son; our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

LETS SEE WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT THOSE WHO SHALL INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-10:
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

GALATIANS 5:19-21:
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

REVELATION 21:8:
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

as for the patriarchs; did you not read; that our LORD JESUS CHRIST went to hell and brought forth; adam to john the baptist out of the depths of hell; for the redeemer had came and made all wrongs right from the very beginning even unto now.

but now; we have no excuses; for GOD’S TRUTH has been told and stood back then and even stands now up to the fulfillment of the consummation and is even established within the new earth and the new heavenly kingdom.

Angel: YOU SAID:there’s a place for polygamist’s and it’s called HELL.

You puff-up kid stop your ignorant ranting or your someone will spank you for your childishness! So POLYGAMIST ARE GOING TO HELL?

So when you the favorite kid of our Father inherit the Kingdom of God you will not see me there for I am a polygamist by heart! You will not see many of the biblical Patriarchs: DAVID, MOSES, ABRAHAM. SOLOMON, ELKANAH, CALEB, GIDEON…

While stating that POLYGAMIST are destined for hell you never try to understand WHO SAID and WHAT is being spoken in 2 Samuel 12:8 whereof you commented in ignorance!

that’s funny… earthly man accepts anything cause they are cowards and want what they want. i stand by GOD and i would of told the mayor’s son the same thing. there’s a place for polygamist’s and it’s called HELL.

stand before GOD and argue about polygamy… FOR IT IS OF THE DEVIL. can one say ADULTERY or FORNICATION.

so many christians blinded and deaf and want to hear and believe what they want and call it GOD’S WILL… please that’s blasphemy.

A POLYGAMIST PUNCHES AN IMMORAL MANIAC AND CASTIGATES A RADIO NEWSCASTER

A friend told me what happened to a polygamist who was the son of a mayor:

The polygamist was a son of a Mayor of a certain city in the Philippines. And this guy took his MISTRESS in one of the hotel of the city. One hotel worker seeing that the mistress oozed with sexual appeal led them into a hotel room where he had a prepared peeping hole.

So when the couple was already in the room and the sexy mistress was taking a bath; the woman noticed that someone was peeping on them. Secretly telling her lover-the son of the mayor, the poor peeping tom was caught red handed. The son of the mayor punched him and kicked the poor peeping man till the management of the hotel managed to peacefully calm the angry rich polygamist.

When the media got hold of the story-it was scandal time. They feasted like wild hens clacking all around. One “brave” announcer courageously castigated in the air the “abusive & sexually immoral polygamist”. In a “righteous” voice sounding with passion he loudly trumpeted: “You abuse the poor because you are rich! WHAT WILL YOU DO WHEN YOUR WIFE KNOWS ABUT THIS MISTRESS OF YOURS OH SON OF THE MAYOR?” Better watch out! Better not cry when your wife hears of this! You have the nerve to abuse the poor hotel employee because you are the son of the mayor? You got no shame protecting your mistress when everybody know she is a woman of ill repute! Shame on you! Call us if you are brave, will put this live on the air!” Thus did the radio “Wakwak” announcer did as he inflamed the news the more for his interested listeners.

Just then the radio station phone rang! It was live! Do you know who called? It was the shameless Polygamist-the son of the mayor. The man blurted out angrily:

“YOU IDIOTIC ANNOUNCER! DO MY WIFE KNOW i HAVE A MISTRESS? YES, SHE KNOWS AND I AM NOT AFRAID OF HER IN CASE YOU DO NOT KNOW! AND WOULD MY WIFE LEAVE ME BECAUSE OF MY MISTRESS? NO, SHE WON’T BECAUSE SHE KNOWS I LOVE HER AND OUR KIDS!”

“I ASKED YOU ….YOU STUPID ANNOUNCER…IF IT WAS YOUR GIRLFRIEND THAT….THAT MANIAC PEEPING TOM..PEEPED ON WHAT WOULD YOU DO? IF IT WAS YOUR WIFE THAT HE PEEPED ON…WHAT WILL YOU DO? WON’T YOU PUNCHED THE MAN THAT DOES THAT? WON’T YOU EVEN KILL HIM? THAT MANIAC SHOULD BE THANKFUL THAT I DID NOT SHOOT HIM!

“AND WHAT DO YOU THINK MY MISTRESS IS?IS SHE NOT MY 2ND WIFE? YOU DARE TO CALL HER A WOMAN OF ILL REPUTE? IF WE SUE YOU IN COURT WILL YOU BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE EXPENSES? NOW IF YOU WON’T ASKED FOR FORGIVENESS IN THE AIR…WE GONNA SUE YOU…LET US SEE IF YOU CAN AFFORD THE EXPENSES! I AM GIVING YOU THE CHANCE TO ASK APOLOGY TO US RIGHT NOW…IF NOT i WILL SEE WHAT I WILL DO TO YOU AND TO THAT MANIAC WHO STARTED ALL OF THIS!”

And so the “peewees” made a public apology to the mayor son, to his wife and kids and his mistress!

Lessons? When a man is right, no amount of debate can overturn his words! No matter how many are for what they falsely believed is, the truth will always come out! You see in our place and almost in every place of the world except in the Muslim worlds…a mistress is always looked down as an ill repute woman whom every male could just snatch and have sexed with! What a sick false conception of a mistress which means my beloved. Rachel was a mistress of Jacob…the Queen of Sheba was a mistress of King Solomon.Queen Esther was a mistress of the king too… How many mistress did Moses have? How many mistress did Elkanah have?

So who is shameful a polygamist, a mistress or those whose mind are darkened by the god of this world-prince of the power of the air? What darkness!
