if we suppose Asahel’s place to have been filled up, the number is exact, there being thirty ordinary members, three chiefs of the first class, and three of the second, of whom, however, one name is omitted.

The Bible verse says that there were 37 persons. But the list contains 36 names only. Many feel that Joab is the 37 th person. Is it correct?
