And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivere

1. Those taking a more HISTORICAL view
a. Believing this signifies the Jews
b. Being relieved of the oppression
c. From either Antiochus IV
d. Or possibly from Herod the Great
e. Or even Jewish-Christians
f. Escaping to Pella in 70 AD
2. If you believe that Dan 11:36 and follows
a. Refer to events
b. In the DISTANT FUTURE
3. Then you will see this verse
a. As referring to a time period
b. Just before Jesus returns physically to earth
c. Known as the Great Tribulation
d. And that this verse refers to the Jews
e. Who are “in the book”
f. Being delivered from the future Antichrist
4. The Jews will experience tremendous horrors
a. And 2/3 of them (unbelieving Jews) will die (Zech 13:8)
b. But Michael their Protector will protect the faithful 1/3
c. Who have come to faith in Jesus
d. Under the ministry of the 144,000
e. And the 2 witnesses (Rev 7, 11 & 14)
5. Some believe this refers to the Tribulation
a. Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it; and it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it (Jer 30:7)
b. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it (Zech 12:2-3)
c. When the dragon realized that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman (Israel) who had given birth to the male child (Jesus). But she was given two wings like those of a great eagle so she could fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness. There she would be cared for and protected from the dragon for a time, times, and half a time (3.5 years) (Rev 12:13-14 NLT) (additions mine)
