This text says the same as Jesus in Mt 10:10, even if we should give a lot to the poor as Christians (1 Tim 6:17-18), we have a right to eat and drink. Paul says that if we have food and clothes, we should be content with that (1 Tim 6:8). If God give us wealth we should give it to the poor and not put our trust in gold, like Job did (Job 31:16-20, 24-25) but we have a right to eat our portion as well. Even if we should be generous, we shouldn’t starve ourselves.
