c. In authority over us
d. Whether our civic leaders
e. Or bosses at work
2. We often take oaths of loyalty
a. In military service or employment
b. To respect and obey our leaders
3. For civil governments and their rulers are ordained by God
a. Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God (Rom 13:1)
4. Even our conscience convicts us to submit to our authorities
a. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake (Rom 13:5)
