1. Most of us trying to guess the future
a. Are pretty far OFF base
b. In our predictions
c. When it finally does arrive
2. Some try to comfort others
a. That “things will get better”
3. Others attempt to “stay positive”
a. Saying such things as:
b. “Good times are just around the corner”
4. But neither of these REALLY know
a. If what they are saying
b. WILL come to pass
c. Let alone WHEN
5. Some people are BORN into oppression
a. They LIVE their lives in oppression
b. And they DIE in oppression
6. Therefore speaking words of “hope”
a. With NO certainty of them
b. Coming to pass is nothing more
c. Than WISHFUL THINKING
7. It might artificially pump them up
a. But reality will set in soon enough
8. Only the BELIEVER can encourage
a. Another believer with CERTAINTY
b. When it comes to the future
c. Because Jesus rose bodily
d. From the dead demonstrating
e. The HE and His words can be trusted
9. The BELIEVER therefore has a confident HOPE
a. Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am (John 14:1-3 NLT)
