For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

According to Ephesians 6:12 saten is in control of this world and it’s existing order. If interpreted correctly the worlds system is in opposition to the child of God, and the only ones who could survive this battle according to Paul is a christian who is arrayed in the Full Armor of God and not the Sunday Christian who has to constantly align himself with the wold.

CHRISTIANS ARE ENGAGE IN A BATTLE
Listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA8KJ8PJCC0&feature=related

PULLING DOWN by Phil Keaggy

Engaged in a battle, but not against flesh and blood.
Arrayed in the armor, of good and light and love.
To pull down the strongholds of which we are speaking of.
The strongholds of Satan, we rise up above the floods.

Pulling down, pulling down,
Walls of deception are crumbling all around.
Hear the sound, like the walls of Jericho,
Crashing to the ground.

Though many among us are weak and weary souls.
Yet God has the answer, just let Him take control.
In His perfect timing we’ll pull every fortress down,
He goes on before us, it’s He that will wear the crown.

The sword of the Spirit is like the cutting edge,
Those who will bear it for those who are true to this pledge,
No weapon will prosper, directed against His own,
The Lord is our Victor, it’s He that is on the throne.

Pulling down, pulling down,
Walls of deception are crumbling all around.
Hear the sound, like the walls of Jericho,
Crashing to the ground.

Satan is described as the ruler of this world. Cf. 2:2. Satan is also in the world-rulers under his control. Paul knew this well as he was a prisoner. Cf. v.20. Satan and his angels rule this world and the spiritual darkness that is in it.
