One Bible Commentary on Ephesians 6: 16

The Roman shield was said to be four and a half feet long. It covered the whole body. It could stop the flaming arrows used in ancient battle. In the same way, we have fiery temptations where Satan seeks to destroy us. We need to be shielded with faith.
