2 Bible Commentaries on Exodus 12: 28
THE FIRST STEP OF THE REDEMPTION PLAN WHICH WAS REVEALED PREVIOUSLY, NOW BEING done & LAID OUT BEGINNING THIS VERSE by Moses & the rest-the Passover Feast. The Lamb w/o blemish(symbol of Jesus Christ) killed by and for the Israelite (symbol of believers)…and eaten by them…with the blood of the lamb on the lintel of their doors-like Jesus blood in the lintel of the doors of the hearts of Christians. The revealing and laying down was more or less on 1491 B.C.
This 1st Step was later on fulfilled by Jesus Christ about 33 A.D. when he was crucified. some tells us that Jesus did not know what His mission was-but would you believe that? The Israelite and later the Jews celebrated this 1st Step of God Redemption Plan annualy-and when the full time was come, Jesus sweated blood to fulfill the First STep- and fulfill it He did when He gave His life as the Lamb of god who takes away the sin of the World-dying on the cross to save us!
Remember there are six steps after the first step-seek it and try to understand that blueprint!
Thus was the 1st Step of the Plan of Redemption fulfilled as documented by four recorders-Matthew, John , Luke & Mark!

This verse has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus, or with redemption, or with anything else mentioned in post 1.
With regard to Jesus’ mission, I think he knew what it was. Straight from his retreat in the wildernesss he started preaching it: “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” - Matt. 4:17
