The water flowing from the sanctuary in Ezekiel is the Living Water.
Rev. 22:1-2 And he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. And on either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations
The Living Water is the Holy Spirit and the source of the Living Water is the Lord.
John 4:10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink’, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
Jer. 17:13 O Lord, the hope of Israel, all who forsake Thee will be put to shame. Those who turn away on earth will be written down, because they have forsaken the fountain of living water, even the Lord.
The ministry of the Holy Spirit leads to eternal life.
John 4:14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.
Spirit-filled and spirit-led Christians are the trees planted by the river whose fruit is for sustenance and leaves are for healing.
Is. 61:3 to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Because their roots (trust, faith, hope, desires) are in the streams of living water (the Lord, the Word) they bring life and healing to those around them.
John 7:38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.’
When they abide in the living water, the Holy Spirit, they will not fail to be fruitful.
Psalm 1:1-3 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither and in whatever he does, he prospers.
Jer. 17:7-8 Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.
Psalm 92:12-14 The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing
Their work and their testimonies will bring new life and healing to those who are dead in spirit and whose lives are a wasteland.
Is. 61:4 Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins, they will raise up the former devastations, and they will repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.
So, as we live in Christ and bear the fruit of the Spirit, we will minister life and healing to those around us. This is the glory of God.
Is. 61:3 that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He might be glorified.
John 15:8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit
Lord, everything in Your Word always comes back to this doesn’t it? Abide in Christ. Drink of His Living Water. Live for Him. Bear fruit. The glory of God is man fully alive.
