The Galatians were expatriated Israelites, that’s why Paul addressed them as “the Israel of God.” Peter also addressed the Galatians as expatriated Israelites in 1 Pt. 2:9-10. The only mention of the prophecies recorded in Hosea 1 being fulfilled is in 1 Pt. 2 and nowhere else in the New Testament.
Replacement theologians teach that Peter & Paul were addressing Gentiles in these verses and therefore Gentiles are the “New Israel” and has replaced ethnic Israel. They teach that the Church today is Israel, in spite of the fact that the word Israel appears 73 times in the New Testament it was never used to refer to the Church.
