Tiuche (Post #28): Focus on the text my friend. There are many wolves surrounding the sheep and wolves make lots of noise. Keep the sheep focused on the Shepherd (Jesus Christ). My sheep hear my voice and they follow me, that is, Jesus. Those who are not sheep do not hear the voice of His word. So, they follow anyone. Even wolves need food. Also, if you present God’s Word to more than eight or ten people at least two or three of them will criticize you. Well, not you specifically, but the Word of God. You have to roll with the punches and keep posting good commentaries. It is OK to have some fun every now and then by chasing a wolf or two, but the Shepherd cannot go too deep in the forest by himself.

Re post 26. Today we use the term ‘Jews’ synonymously with ‘Israelites’. So when someone says that the Bible is a history of the Jews, it’s the same as saying it’s the history of Israel.
Since then Jews have scattered all over the world. There is even a Jewish republic in the far eastern corner of Russia. But the Chinese are not descended from any of the tribes of Israel. Nor are the Europeans or Americans or the Indians.
And if Adam was the first man, he wasn’t Jewish. The first man appeared in Africa about two million years ago. Don’t just read Jewish history. Read world history and put the Bible in perspective.

Please don’t get angry with me or be insulted by my constant correction…i value you…i believe in Jesus words w/c run something like this:
HE WHO OWES GOD MUCH WHEN FORGIVEN OF SUCH, WILL LOVE GOD MUCH!” i believe you and me fits those descriptions. I see deep within you is a sincere person…yes a dying voice within us trying to reach out to God. I see you will be a die hard follower of Christ..that is only my opinion, but is see you in that way.
May i correct you again…the old testament is not the story of the Jews…the Jews was only one tribe of Israel, there were 11 other tribes…the Old testament is our…I said OUR history…it tells us who was our first parent…and what race we came from…either semitic, japhetic or hametic race..from the three sons of Noah. For example since i am chinese i most probably came from the patriarch Japheth with a little mixture from Ham and Shem…and you if you are an Englishman, you are a semitic race..w/some mixture .
The Jews w/ the descendants Benjamin & the scattered Levites were the only tribes left chosen by God to be the carrier of His oracles…they are called summarily as the JEWS TODAY…the other LOST TEN TRIBES were scattered and lost their identities…
but i know where they are, not to boast that i am something when in fact i am nothing…i am here to freely give as i have freely receive.

To me the old testament is the story of the Jews. Their struggle as they establish their faith, against foreigners and idolatry.
Notice, idolatry is used to explain their defeat at the hand of the foreigners. Their kingdom was taken because they fell into idolatry.
Evidence, within the scriptures itself, proves that the religions of the Mediterranean helped shape their religion.

JAMES R>
There you go again trying to discredit the Bible…trying to make it appear that it is untrustworthy….then you turn to other page and make it appear to be your authority….don’t you know that if one part of it is questionable, then all its other part is tinted too! You are going round and round and round, learning but…never coming to the truth!
Say…James R., have you already seen a book you can claim to be your authority since you are putting to doubt the bible?
Men teats can secret milk too…research it in the web!Example see www.bible-truth.org/kjv21-24.html.
As for Adam & God being a hermaphrodite LOL…it seem your grasp of English is a problem.

Here we see Adam is a male and a female. In other words, he has breasts! so he was a hermaphrodites.
ATUM VS. ADAM
In Egyptian mythology, Atum had arisen from the ‘primordial soup’ created by himself. Atum was a (you guessed it) hermaphrodites. Feeling lonely he ’spilled his seed’ (rated PG-13 nowadays) into his hand. This was a representation of the female and male reproductive organs. This gave birth to Shu and Tefnut. Thus beginning life on Earth. Cf. Wicipedia, on any encyclopedia.
HERMAPHRODITES
God’s breasts are full of milk! Cf. Job 21:24.
What does God look like? Here we see the Hellenistic influence on the bible. Hermaphrodites were sacred back then. The Greeks considered them ‘divine of form’.
The Orphics believed that the universe began when Eros hatched as an hermaphrodite from an egg. Cf. Alexander Hilsops 1858 ‘The Two Babylons’.
When every thing starts out of one thing, that one thing must be a male and a female.
NO MAN HAS EVER SEEN GOD
The new testament doctrine states you cannot see God.
Jn. 1:18 “No man hath seen God at any time;”
1 Tim 6:16″…dwelling in light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see:”

Bob Kite: Regarding your post#18…
Man as written in this verse refers to person, regardless of sex….it should read “so God created human being in His own image, male and female he created them….
Thoughts:
Does God have sexual organs? Did Adam & EVe had navels? The scripture is silent regarding these…though it may give us a clue…but it would be wise for us not to go beyond what is written! For teaching extra biblical doctrines would mostly lead us astay…and we be found a liar for teaching things contrary to God’s written Word!

Many Christians have associated loyalty to their nation with loyalty to God.
“Christianity and Patriotism are synonymous terms,” said evangelist Billy Sunday, “and hell and traitors are synonymous.” Billy Sunday fell into the trap of confusing the Christian faith with the religion of American patriotism.
No one can claim superiority over another.
Humans were created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), Since all are descended from the one man, Adam, there is only one “human race”. Therefore it can be assumed that if all human beings are descended from a common ancestry, then all people are equal.

please explain Genesis 1;27. Does it not say God created “man” as male and female and then say male and female created He them? Is God telling us that He created both Adam and Eve in Adam? Is that why God took Eve from Adam sometime later? What other possible explanation could there be? Thanks
I ask you to explain for me Genesis 1:V27, instead you are explaining Ezekiel

1)Ezekiel was taken captive to Babylon in 597 B.C.Then in 587 B.C.the city of Jerusalem & the temple were destroyed. There was no hope of restoration or revival. In Ezekiel 37, Ezekiel prophesied about the resurrection of Israel and in the later chapters about the worshiping of the people of God in the new temple.
Refer commentaries for Ezekiel 37:1.
http://www.vbvbc.org/bible-verse/ezekiel37-1/
Ezekiel has done his part by prophesying as per the command of God..The revival was brought by the Spirit of God.
2)We find another example for the operation of the Law of Recurrence in Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39.In Ezekiel 38, we find the description of the war of Gog and its allies against Israel and its allies. In Ezekiel 39 we find the repetition of the description with added details.(Refer commentary 13)

Law of recurrence:We find some instances of the Law of recurrence in the Bible. We find the description of an event followed by the repetition of the same event with some added details subsequently.
In Genesis 1:1-2:3,we find the description of the creation in six days and about the Sabbath rest on the seventh day. Then in Genesis 2:4-25,we find the description of the manner of creation of man and woman on the sixth day.
Tongues of fire: Most interpreters believe that the Bible says THAT God created man in 1:27, and in 2:18 it says HOW He did it. The Bible isn’t always cronological.
good day and i thankyou for a fantastic site. i wonder fo you could please answer his question, GOD SAYS IN GENESIS 1 V27 THAT HE CREATED MALE AND FEMALE, AND WE SEE EVE WAS ONLY CREATED IN CHAPTER 2 V 18. WAS THERE ANOTHER BEING CREATED WITH ADAM? OR WAS GOD REFERING TO THE ANIMALS AND FISH ETC. THIS IQUIET CONFUSING AS THE STATEMENT MADE SEEM TO BE REFERING TO ADAM.

1)There is a correction in Commentary No.9.Bible commentator,John Calvin, has referred to Malachi 2:15 & not Genesis 2:15 as mentioned by mistake.
2)”And did not he make one?yet had he the residue of the Spirit? And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed..”Mal.2:15.God made one woman
(Eve)to be help meet & companion for the first man Adam.”did not make one?”,”wherefore one”-The concept of “husband & wife shall be one flesh” in Gen.2:24 is implied here.Sex was created by God for the production of legitimate & godly seed.
3)The prophet Malachi was condemning the sin of polygamy committed by the people of Israel.God had disregarded & rejected the sacrifices & withheld the blessings because of the unfaithfulness in the marriage relationship.
See Mal.2:11-14.
4)The Gospels of Matthew & Mark refer to the quotation of Genesis 2:24 used by Jesus Christ when He stated that divorce was not in the original plan of God when man & woman were created.Read Matthew 19:3-9;Mark 10:2-9.
5)Paul quoted the reference of Gen.2:24 when he made the analogy of the husband & wife relationship with the relationship between Christ & the Church.Eph.5;30,31.Marriage relationship must be honored. The most intimate relationship is the husband-wife relationship. It is a beautiful relationship.Marriage is a holy covenant made between a man & a woman before the presence of God.Marriage is honorable in all& the bed undefiled.Heb.13:4.
So God created man . The reiterated mention of the image of God is not a vain repetition. For it is a remarkable instance of the Divine goodness which can never be sufficiently proclaimed. And, at the same time, he admonishes us from what excellence we have fallen, that he may excite in us the desire of its recovery. When he soon afterwards adds, that God created them male and female, he commends to us that conjugal bond by which the society of mankind is cherished. For this form of speaking, God created man, male and female created he them, is of the same force as if he had said, that the man himself was incomplete. Under these circumstances, the woman was added to him as a companion that they both might be one, as he more clearly expresses it in the second chapter. Malachi also means the same thing when he relates, (Genesis 2:15,) that one man was created by God, whilst, nevertheless, he possessed the fullness of the Spirit. For he there treats of conjugal fidelity, which the Jews were violating by their polygamy. For the purpose of correcting this fault, he calls that pair, consisting of man and woman, which God in the beginning had joined together, one man, in order that every one might learn to be content with his own wife.

1)Man is created by God.There are many Scriptural references to show that God created man.(e.g.)Gen.2:7;Matt.19:4;Mark 10:6;Acts 17:26;1 Cor.11:9.
2)Man is created in the likeness & image of God.Gen.1:26,27;5:1;9:6;Read Eph.4:24;Col.3:10.Man has a responsibility to response to the love of God.He has to respect fellowmen.
3)God created man, male & female.Gen.2:7;Mal.2:15;1 Cor.11:9.Sex is a wonderful servant but a terrible master.Woman was made from man to be his helpmeet.Gen.2:20,23.The husband is the head of the wife.Eph.5:23.
4)Man was created out of the ground.Gen.2:7.Man is weak & frail.He is insignificant before the power of God.Read Ps.103:14-16;Job 25:6;Ps.8:3,4;
Is.40:15.
5)Man was wonderfully made.Ps 139:14-16.The human body consists of intricately designed organs such as ears, eyes, kidneys. The electrical design & the storage capacity of the nervous system in the brain speak of the wonderful creative acts of God.The formation of images in the eye is a mystery. The intricate retina contains more than 100 million light sensitive cells which help us to see clearly. The intricate ears record sound & help us to know from where the sound comes.Let us praise the Lord.

I find it interesting that during each step of the way thus far in Creation, God “saw it was good.” Yet, when He creates mankind, there is no indication that His final creation was declared “good.” A couple verses later, mankind is included in the whole of Creation being declared “very good,” but they were not called “good” in an of themselves as the other steps of creation were. This seems to raise questions as to the nature of this step of creation.
DL,
the comment has nothing to do about God not touching man, it has to do with God creating man outside of himself. The reference is to a painting.

Equality is good.
Neither need submit to the other.

If a comment is allowed here let me say that if God cannot touch man then He cannot be our God.

King of monkeys is a monkey.
King of man must be a man.
That man if untouched by God is just another animal.

On the ceiling of the Sistine chapel in Rome there are the tremendous frescoes by Michelangelo. Among them is that magnificent picture of the creation of man. God is reaching out his finger and man, having just been created, reaches to him as well. But their fingers do not touch. This is true Christian insight. Man is not an extension of God, cut off like a reproducing amoeba. God created man external to himself, and they must not touch in the picture. However, this point must be made: That which is created out of nothing and now has objective reality, does show forth the thought of God and is therefore an exhibition of who and what he is. The external world is not an extension of the essense of God,; nevertheless, the external world does reveal and exhibit who and what God is.

JERALD GOODWIN:
This verse Genesis 1:27 is the predestined seed of GOD before the very foundations; Sons and Daughters of GOD; which is ISRAEL in the very image of GOD. And what was that very image of GOD? A Spirit Form.
Which is neither Jew nor Gentile.
And as for Genesis 2 it is the predestined seed of GOD before the foundations; Sons and Daughters of GOD; becoming a clay vessel of flesh on Earth YET are still neither Jew nor Gentile.
