New Zoo Revue:
Gen 2:18-20
Adam is alone which God knows is “not good”. Adam comes to realize his loneliness as he reviews the animals. All the animals are in pairs - each animal has a mate.
Keep in mind that the events of Gen 2:4-25 happen on the sixth day of creation. People believe this because of verses 1:27-28. On day 6, God created both male and female and gave them the command to multiply. Think of chapter 2 as a Dateline episode reporting the events of this day. Chapter 1 had the focus on God and His creative work, while chapter 2 is now a focus on Adam. Some people wonder how Adam managed to name all the animals in a single day. A likely explanation is he just had to name the kinds: Fish, birds, and cattle for examples.
