Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.

Scripture does not specifically state that Cain, Abel, Adam and Eve were the only people on the Earth at this time. That is an assumption made by the reader because they are the only people so far mentioned. It is probable that Adam had other children between Cain and Abel and between Abel and Seth who are not mentioned, probably daughters. Remember that these people were exceptionally long-lived and nowhere does Scripture give us a timeline between the birth of Cain and his murder of Abel. Cain could have been hundreds of years old.

When Cain killed Abel, the only other people in the world were his mom and dad. So who is it that Cain could concceivably be afraid of in this verse?
