1)Ps.110:1 is quoted or alluded in many N.T.passages.Matt.22:44;26:64;Mark 12:36;14:62;16:19;Luke 20:42,43;Acts 2:34,35;7:55,56;1 Cor.15:25;Eph.1:20;
Col.3:1;Heb.1:3,13;8:1;10:12,13;12:2;1 Pet.3:22.
2)The writer of Hebrews used the quotation of Ps.110:1 in Heb.10:12 & 13 to stress with emphasis that Jesus Christ has completed the atonement work for our sins by offering Himself as once for all sacrifice.There is no need of repetition of sacrifices.The sacrificial work of Jesus Christ was over.
After entering into heaven,Jesus Christ sat on the right hand of God waiting for the enemies to be made a footstool under his feet.
3)It was the custom in those days in the Middle East for the conqueror in war to place his feet on the necks of the defeated enemies.Read Joshua 10:24;1 Cor.15:25.
4)Jesus Christ has come in the flesh to destroy the devil who had the power of death by his death on the cross.Read Heb.2:14.He came to destroy the works of the devil.Read 1 john3:8.
5)(God)disarmed the principalities & powers that were ranged against us & made a bold display & public example of them in triumphing over them in Him & in it.Col.2:15.(Amp)
6)The final defeat of Satan is mentioned in Rev.20:10.The devil will be cast into the lake of fire & brimstone where the beast & the false prophet have already been thrown into.Rev.19:20.
