1)The New Covenant prophesied by Jeremiah promised forgiveness of sins.
“..for I will forgive their iniquity & I will remember their sin no more.”
Jer.31:34.The writer of Hebrews uses this quotation in Heb.8:12&10:17.
2)The Levitical high priests entered into the Most Holy Place in the tabernacle once a year with the blood of bulls & goats to make atonement for himself & for the sins of the people of Israel.Heb.9:7,12,13.The blood of bulls & goats could not take away sins.Heb.10:4.The sins of the people were remembered every year.Heb.10:3.But Jesus Christ has entered the Holy Place (Heaven)once for all through his own blood & obtained eternal redemption.Heb.9:11,12,24.Jesus Christ has finished the task of making atonement for the sins of the people of the world.
3)Because of the dedication of the New covenant with the blood of Jesus Christ,forgiveness of sins is made possible to those who believe in Him.
“In Him we have redemption through his blood,the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace.” Read Eph.1:7;Col.1:14.
4)Jesus Christ has the power to forgive sins.Read Mark 2:5-7.”If we confess our sins,he is faithful & just to forgive our sins & to cleanse us from all righteousness.” 1 john 1:9.The forgiveness is total & complete.
5)The sins once forgiven by God,will not be remembered anymore because of the abundant mercies of God.Read Ps.103:12;130:4,7;Is.38:17;43:25;55:7;
Mic.7;19.
6) Those who are justified by the blood of Jesus Christ,will have a right standing with God.Read Rom.3:24-26.
7)Paul,while giving his testimony to king Agrippa,told him that Jesus has appeared to him & called him to be an apostle of the Gentiles to open their eyes & to turn from darkness to light & from the power of satan to God that they receive forgiveness of sins & an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith that is in Him.Read Acts 26:16-18.
Jesus told His disciples after His resurrection that repentance & remission of sins should be preached among all nations beginning at Jerusalem.Luke 24:47.
Those who are forgiven have to share the Good News of salvation to others.
