This verse starts with”Therefore”-that means it is continuation of what is told at the close of Chapter 2.Jesus Christ is a merciful and faithful High Priest who is able to help us in our needs. The author calls the readers as “holy brethren” and “partakers of the heavenly calling”Earlier in chapter 2,it is said that Jesus Christ was not ashamed to call those that are saved as brothers.(2:11).Paul said in Phil.3:14 that”I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward calling of God.”Because of the privileges and position in Christ,we should not turn back from faith. We have confessed Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Lord.We must think of Him who is the Apostle and High Priest of our Confession. Here only Jesus is called as the apostle. He came to earth from Heaven and fulfilled the mission. He has made atonement for our sins on the cross. He is the Word.He delivered the Gospel. We must not give up our faith in Christ.
