1)Under the Old Covenant,God chose to appear in the cloud upon the Mercy Seat placed on the Ark of the Covenant inside the Holy of Holies.Lev.16:2;
Ex.25:22.Under the New Covenant, the Spirit of God dwells inside the hearts of the believers.1 Cor.3:16;6:19.
2)Under the Old Covenant the Law was placed inside the Ark of the Covenant kept in the Holy of Holies.Heb.9:4;Ex.25:16;Deut.10:2,5.Under the New Covenant,the laws are written in the hearts of the believers & are put in their minds.Heb.8:10;10:16.In Jer.31:33,we find “I will put my law in their inward parts.” instead of “I will put my laws into their mind.” in Heb.8:9.
3)compare Heb.8:9 & 10:16.”I will put my laws into their mind & write them in their hearts.” Heb.8:9. “I will put my laws into their hearts & in their minds will I write them.” Heb.10:16.
4)In Ps.40:8, we read “I delight to do thy will,O my God:yea thy law is within my heart.”As the law is internal under the New covenant,(instead of external as in the case of the Old Covenant),there will be a desire to do the will of God.
5)Read Ezek.11:19,20;36:26,27.Because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit,the believers in Christ will be able to keep the commandments of God.
6)Under the old covenant the people of Israel were called the chosen people of God.Deut.10:15.They were called an holy nation,a peculiar treasure
& a kingdom of priests.Ex.`19:5,6.Under the New Covenant,the body of believers in Christ is called a chosen generation,royal priesthood ,an holy nation & a peculiar people.1 Pet.2:5,9.
7)The promise “I will be their God & they shall be my people.” was given to the people of Israel under the Old Covenant.Lev.26:12.The believers in Christ are called the “Israel of God.”Gal.6:16.Read Jer.7:23;11:4;24:7;30:22
Ezek.11:19,20;14:11;36:24,25;37:27.”Ye are the temple of the living God;as God hath said:’I will dwell in them;and I will be their God & they shall be my people.’” 2 Cor.6:16.Under the new covenant,God dwells in the midst of the Church.Read Eph.2:21.
