One Bible Commentary on Hebrews 9: 25

1

The priesthood of Jesus Christ after the order of Melchisedec is better than the Levitical priesthood.Under the Old Covenant, the high priest enters the Most Holy Place in the tabernacle pitched on the earth with the blood of bulls & goats to make atonement for him & his household & for all Israelites. The rituals of the Day of Atonement have to be performed every year without fail.Jesus Christ has inaugurated the New Covenant with His blood & put an end to the Old Covenant. He died on the Cross & shed His blood. He rose again & entered into the Heaven to complete the atonement work with His precious blood. There is no need for Him to offer any further sacrifice as the One sacrifice He has offered was sufficient.
Jesus Christ is the mediator of a better covenant which was established upon better promises.(Heb.8:6;9:15).With an oath of God,Jesus was made a surety of a better covenant.(Heb.7:22).Because of His death, the benefits of the new covenant are guaranteed to those who believe on Him.(Heb.9:16,17)
