1)The Ark of Covenant symbolizes the Person of Jesus Christ.It was made of Shittim wood (Humanity of Jesus Christ),overlaid by gold,(Deity of Jesus Christ)and was placed in the Holy of Holies.
2)It is significant that the first item of the Tabernacle to be described in Exodus(25:10-16)is the Ark of Covenant.We love Jesus because He first loved us.(I John 4:19;Rom.5:8)The Son of man is come to seek and save that which was lost.(Luke.19:10)
3)Three important articles were placed in the Ark of Covenant.They represent the three offices of Lord Jesus Christ.
(i)Golden pot that had manna:The Lord commanded Moses to put an omer full of manna in a pot to preserve it as a memorial that God fed the Israelites in the wilderness.(Ex.16:32-34)The Golden pot that had manna represents Jesus as the Prophet.Deut.18:15-18;Acts.3:22.A prophet is one receives message from God for the people.We are also have message of God to share-The Gospel Message-message of reconciliation.
(ii)Aaron’s rod that budded:The incident of the budding of Aaron’s rod is mentioned in Numbers 18.It represents Jesus as the High Priest.He is the High Priest after the order of Melchisedec.We are also made as priests.
(Is.61:6;I Pet.2:5,9;Rev.1:6;5:9,10;20:6).We are to represent for the people before God.(Gen.18:23-33)
(iii)God commanded Moses to put the Tables of Covenant in the Ark.(Ex.25:16;
40:20;Deut.10:2,5)Jesus Christ is the King of Kings.(Dan.2:47;I Tim.6:15;
Rev.17:11;19:16)We are made as Kings.(Ex.19:6;I Pet.2;9;Rev.1:5;5:10)
