Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

One Bible Commentary on Isaiah 39: 8

Hezekiah’s response shows that there is something profoundly wrong. He has been told his descendants will be carried off to be eunuchs in an enemy’s palace, and he says, in effect, “Fine, as long as it doesn’t affect me.” The depth of his selfishness is revealed here.
