If we compare Job 1:3 with Job 42:12, it is exactly twofold the Lord Gave to Job! This is the inheritance a firstborn son used to get from his father(Deut.21:17). God was in fact honoring Job as if he was his firstborn son! What an honor! Job first prayed for his friends and then his condition was changed. Job also preferred the good of his friends son over his own good. Yes, he was worthy to get the double portion. God’s only begotten son is the rightful claimant of God’s inhertance. He suffered for me on the cross of calvary and was entiled to the double portion of God’s inheritance. But God has made saved sinners the partakers of that inheritance! We are to enjoy all that belongs to his only Son!
