It seems that John resumes chronological presentation of events later in the case of the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection, like, “Six days before passover.” (John 12:1, 13:1), “When it was dawn”(John 18:28), “It was noon” (John 19:14), “It was the day of preparation” (John 19:14),”The first day of the week” (John 20:1),”the same day” (John 20:19),”After eight days” (John 20:26)etc. So John is very particular about the chronological presentation of the events. But he begins his Gospel where there was no time!. “In the beginning was the Word.” this is even much earlier than ” In the beginning God created heaven and earth,” (Genesis 1:1)for the word was before anything else came into being! John thus excels in describing God working both in eternity and in time.
