The Apostle Thomas made it clear that he would not believe in Jesus unless he saw the nail holes. Even if he saw the nail holes, Thomas made it equally clear that he would have to stick his finger inside the nail holes. Now, this would be proof enough for any person, but Thomas said he would also have to thrust his hand into His side. And, unless he did all three, Thomas would not believe. Thomas was a strict empiricist!
By contrast, there are those who rely on reason alone, independent of faith, as their best guide. I am referring to rationalists. Misguided by believing that human reasoning is superior to faith, their end is an unhappy one.
Blessed are they who have not seen Jesus, yet have believed.
