1. John had said that Jesus must increase
a. And it was happening
2. People were RIGHTLY going to Jesus
a. More than they were to John
3. Jesus knew the religious crowd would have questions
a. Which could result in major confrontations
b. Especially if Jesus would say He was the Messiah
4. But Jesus was in total control of all events
a. He had a 3 year ministry to do yet
b. And this was not His time yet
c. Not until He went to Jerusalem riding on a donkey
5. This verse is the first time
a. John uses the word ‘Lord’ for Jesus
b. Again a notation of DEITY
c. One of the MAIN reasons for John’s Gospel
