Marissa:
The Lord is not angry with Joshua. Joshua was seeking through prayer why Israel was defeated against Ai whose people were so few…God in this verse was telling Joshua to take action against the caused of the defeat than just by praying and asking why (see verses 11-13).

God help those who are helpless and Prayer is good but Godly action will the more be the better alternative when the situation calls for actions…here comes in the saying God help those who help themselves!

I’m confused - why did the Lord tell Joshua to get up from praying and subsequently ask him why he was on his face, as though chastizing Joshua for praying to the Lord in seeking out what had gone wrong with the plan?
