6 Bible Commentaries on Luke 11: 2
Because of His short time here, I believe that Jesus had a specific message in whatever He said, including this prayer.
It seems to me that He put great importance in first acknowledging God and then praising Him before we ask for His help. Maybe sometimes we are too stressed out with our problems, to think of first praising Him? Next, Jesus implies that we should pray for what God wants .(His kingdom to flourish on earth as it does in heaven). It is difficult for us to call out to God praising and thanking Him while someone precious to us is deathly ill but, Jesus is suggesting that is where our heart should be when we are in need and before we ask for His help.

What had made the disciples to ask Jesus,”Lord, teach us to pray”in Luke 11:1?They wondered at the prayer life of Jesus Christ. They wanted to pray like Jesus. The question was asked when Jesus has just completed praying in a certain place.Jesus had a regular prayer life.
Why isn’t there more healing? Perhaps we pray amiss?

When we ask amiss is it because we do not pray correctly?

Jesus said this is how to pray, so either this is a FORMAT for all prayers or this is the only prayer to pray! Yes or no??

I agree with your view,Dear Patrick.
Kindly read Philip.4:6,7.
Here are some more thoughts.
Matthew’s account of the Lord’s prayer in Matt.6:9-13 is little shorter than the one we find in Luke.In Matt.6:9,we find these words:”After this manner, therefore pray ye.” Hence it is a Model prayer for us.
We approach God in prayer in the status of the children of God.John 1:12.
We find that there two sets of three petitions. The first set of the three petitions is concerned with God only. All of us are having needs.Of course our needs may be great. But,first of all,we must have concern about God’s Name,His Kingdom and His Will. Our first priority must be about the things of God.
We have to pray that the name of God must be glorified. We have to pray for the preaching of the gospel to all nations so that the Kingdom of God may come early.(Matt.24:14;2 Peter 3:9).We have to pray that the will of God must be done on earth.
