One Bible Commentary on Luke 16: 31

IF THEY HEAR NOT THE OLD TESTAMENT NEITHER WILL THEY BE PERSUADED THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT while TRUE BELIEVERS have….

The Apostles and the Prophets as a foundation with Christ as the chief cornerstone:Our should be foundation is not the New Testament(the Apostles) teachings alone instead it includes the Old Testament(the Prophets with Jesus Christ the chief foundation. It is therefore a lopsided foundation when believers only study the New Testament and rejects the Old Testament. Our scriptures tells us to have a complete foundation…leaning oneself heavily on either old or new foundation would make ones foundation crooked. Even if one has both as a foundation but without Christ…such foundation would be incomplete. We are told to have these three basic mass foundation for our house to stand firmly on these mass rock-which is His Word!
His Word being the Old and New Testament-all scriptures…yes ‘ALL” and not the new testament only as the basis. You wonder why some have a twisted undrstanding of adultery, polygamy, fornication, dietary foods, sabbaths? That is because their foundation on the scriptures are incomplete! They are like people who have only seen the ending of the movie…yet they would DEBATE those who have starting with the beginning and finished it to the end. So be aware!

Ephesians 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone;
