5)”Who(Jesus in the form of God…was made in the likeness of men.And being made in fashion as a man,he humbled himself…” Read Phil.2:6-8.
“Thou madest him a little lower than the angels…”Heb.2:5.
Jesus came in the flesh to redeem man by paying the penalty of death for the condemned sinner on the Cross.”Who gave Himself for us,that He might redeem us from all iniquity.”Titus 2:14.
6)”Therefore,the Lord Himself shall give you a sign,Behold a virgin shall conceive,and bear a son,and shall call his name,Immanuel.”Read Matt.1:22,23.
Jesus was born at Bethlehem shortly before the death of Herod the Great as the Son of virgin Mary & laid in a manger wrapped on swaddling clothes. The prophesy of Isaiah has been fulfilled.
7)A SIGN.
The humble shepherds were the only people who were told of the birth of Jesus as the Messiah(Christ) at Bethlehem. They were given a sign so that they might go & see the child.
Of course the baby being wrapped in swaddling clothes was common in those days. But the baby lying in a manger was definitely unique & easy for identification.
Messiah was not kept in a palace but in a manger.2 cor.8:9.
Later on we see that the disciples asked Jesus,”tell us,what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Matt.24:3.The signs of the Second coming of Jesus Christ are being fulfilled. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be a wonder.
Jesus Christ is coming soon.

1)We find four portraits of Jesus Christ in the four Gospels.
Matthew presented Jesus as King.
Mark presented Jesus as Servant.
Luke presented Jesus as Man.
John presented Jesus as God.
Only Matthew & Luke gave details of the birth of Jesus Christ.Their accounts supplement to each other.Matthew described the visit of the wise men to see the child Jesus whereas Luke described the visit of the shepherds to see the new born babe Jesus.
2)Manger:The Greek word is phatne. It is the feeding place for cattle,a crib or trough.Luke 2:7,12,16.
In Luke 13:15,the word “stall”is used for the place to keep the cattle.
In Isaiah 1:3,we find the word “crib”. “The ox knows his owner, and the ass his master’s crib…”
As there was no room for Joseph and Mary in the inn, they had to find a place
for accommodation at Bethlehem as it was delivery time for Mary.
3)Swaddling cloths:It was common practice to wrap the small babies in swaddling cloths to keep their limbs strong and straight.
The baby Jesus was wrapped in swaddling cloths & laid in a manger at
Bethlehem.
4)The condescension of Jesus Christ is a wonder.”…….His name shall be called Wonderful…”Isaiah 9;6.
“for ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty may be rich.”
2 Cor.8;9.Read Matt.8:20;Luke 9:58.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
