The key to this verse would be mending their nets. The nets were used by fishermen in days of old instead of poles as we would use today. The nets would often drag the bottom of the ocean floor or the lake and catch on coral reef and would often snag or tare or even tangle at times. So the process of mending their nets would’ve been a daily process after a day of fishing to prepare for the next day. The spiritual application we can receive from this would be after a day of toiling in this world fishing for men we must prepare ourselves to get back at it again for the folllowing day, for the Lords work is never completed as long as we are here. If a fisherman goes out to fish and catches nothing he just dont hang up his pole and gear and quit but goes and tries again. You wont catch them all but the more you try the better your odds of catching one.
