is your question concerning this particular verse or the next one?in this verse Jesus asked the entity indwelling demoniac what its name was. It replied “Legion” which apparently was the name of the group of demons\devils collectively.
In verse 10, I’m not sure why they didn’t want to be sent out of the country. but perhaps like humans devils have a preference as to where they like to reside. I’ve heard some preachers go so far as to say that demons like water. If you’ll note, after this legion possessed the herd of swine they grabbed a bottle of Coppertone, a beach towel, and headed straight for the coast! LOL
