1. The disciples were NOT to plan out their trip first
a. By calculating all the inventory needed
b. And then go on their missionary journey
2. Jesus is telling them to GO NOW
a. And that He will use others
b. To provide for our needs
3. We too are to trust the Lord daily
a. To supply our needs
4. But our first responsive is to OBEY
a. Knowing we can TRUST in Him
5. Discuss Jesus’ command to His disciples here
a. And contrast it with how
b. We do missions today
6. Some missionary organizations
a. Will NOT sponsor you
b. Unless you are first
c. FULLY FUNDED
7. Tractorman rant here:
a. I truly wonder if we are ‘doing missions right’
i. As those who WANT to go on missions
ii. Are for lack of a better term
iii. Forced in some cases for years
iv. To get on the ‘missions support’ circuit
v. Going around begging local churches
vi. And individuals to support them
vii. Before they can even think about going
b. And when they do go overseas
i. Some have to live in separate ‘compounds’
ii. As opposed to among the people
c. And the costs for these missionaries
i. Especially those with families
ii. Runs up to 50-60K a year
iii. Which is more than many people
iv. Are making here in the USA
d. I wonder if we need to truly rethink missions
i. And work toward training
ii. Indigenous missionaries
iii. To minister among the people
iv. With whom they already live
