1)The phrase “these sayings” referred to the teachings of Christ in Chapters 5-7 of Matthew -familiarly called as the ” Sermon of the Mount.”
2)The reason for astonishment of the people is given in the next verse.
Jesus taught with authority & not as scribes. The scribes were interpreters of the Law.Jesus Christ is the Best Teacher.
3)Read Luke 10:39.Mary sat at Jesus’ feet & heard His Word.Personal study of the Word of God is important for the growth of christian life.1Pet.2:2.
Ps.1:2.
4)At the same time,God has given the Church the fivefold ministry of-
Apostles,Prophets,Evangelists,Pastors & Teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry & for the edifying of the Church. They are ministers of God.Eph.4:11,12
5)We have to check the teachings of others with the Bible.Acts 17:11.
“Pastors are Satan’s ministers” -It is a wrong statement. Not all Pastors are false teachers. There are excellent teachers of the Word of God.There are sincere & hard working Ministers of God whom we have to honour.
Heb.13:7,17
