1. Luke adds the centurion VALUED this servant boy
a. Now a centurion had a servant who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him (Luke 7:2 ESV)
2. Good manners are NEVER a waste of time
a. And this Roman centurion
b. Addresses Jesus with respect
3. He could have tried to intimidate Jesus
a. And demand Jesus heal the servant
b. Or suffer the consequences of Imperial Rome
4. But he approaches Jesus with a humble heart
a. Earnestly seeking healing from Jesus
b. For a young servant boy (Greek: pais)
c. (Greek: doulos) in Luke 7:2
5. When those we care for are suffering
a. Going to Jesus FIRST
b. Is always recommended
6. Our prayer and pleading are more earnest
a. When it concerns our loved-ones
