1. Nehemiah had a zeal for the things of God, much like Jesus
a. Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” (Matt 21:12-13)
2. No peaceful coexistence should be maintained with spiritual compromise
a. Cast out the bondwoman
i. Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman (Gal 4:30)
b. Get rid of the leaven
i. Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us (1 Cor 5:6-7)
3. There is NO mention of praying about it first
a. Or forming a focus group
i. To best address the issue
b. Or dialoguing with all parties
i. To reach a mutual agreement
4. When “sin in the camp” is discovered
a. It is dealt with decisively and REMOVED
