1. People getting caught up in the moment of “religious fervor”
a. Can sometimes make promises
b. Which they later regret
2. One of the more famous “moments” today
a. Is the pledge to give money
b. To a ministry appealing on TV
3. After hearing a stirring, emotional appeal for money
a. To rebuild the church sanctuary and youth center
b. Or to send money to our suffering brethren
4. Believers get caught up in the moment
a. And pledge their paychecks
5. Then after their emotions settle
a. They realize they do not have the money
i. To follow through on their promises
b. Or they start to have second thoughts
i. On whether they should really
ii. Support this effort at all
