1)Psalms 111&112 are similar in form & structure.They are “Acrostic” Psalms.
There are 22 phrases (in Hebrew) in each of these two psalms.Each phrase begins with the successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet in these two psalms.(Hebrew language has 22 letters).
2)Psalm 11 speaks of God and Psalm 112 speaks of God’s people.
3)We have to praise God because of His great,mighty,wonderful & glorious works.He is powerful.We nave to praise God because of his attributes.He is righteous.He is gracious.He is full of compassion.
4)The Psalmist speaks about redemption,covenant,commandments,obedience & provision.The Lord has redeemed the people of Israel from the bondage of Egypt,gave them the Law & made covenant with them.The key of the covenant was obedience.He provided them wonderfully in the wilderness.
5)Jesus Christ has inaugurated the new covenant by His precious blood.
Matt.26:28.We are redeemed by His blood.1 Peter 1:18,19.Those who accept Jesus Christ as Savior are the children of God.Their sins are forgiven.They are filled with the Holy Spirit.They are the covenant people under the New Covenant.God takes care of them & provides them.1 Peter 5:7;Phil.4:19.Read Jer.31:31-34;Heb.8:9-12;10:16,17.The believers will experience the providential care of God (provision of their needs & protection from enemies).Read Rom.8:28.
6)The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.Read Deut.4:6;Job 28:28;
Eccl.12:13.Pro.1:7.Wisdom means deep knowledge.
7)”a good understanding have all they that do his commandments”
a good understanding=a good success.
Read Joshua 1:8;Psalm 1:2,3;119:1;128:1;James 1:22.
We have to apply the Biblical principles which we have learned in our life.
