For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.



One Bible Commentary on Psalms 8: 5

1)Psalm 8 begins & ends with the same statement.It states that the name of the Lord is very excellent in all the earth.
2)In Ps.8:3-5,we see the honorable position given to a man.In Ps.8:6-8,
we see about the rulership given to man.
3)”for thou hast made him a little lower than the angels”-
i)Man was made in the image & the likeness of God.Gen.1:26.He was made a little lower than God himself.
ii)God wanted to create man with a position higher than the rest of the living creatures.Man was made with a personality.He has the faculties of mind,emotion & will.He can think & decide.He has the feelings.He has the conscience.He has the self will.
iii)Man was given a spiritual nature.He was given the ability to worship God & to have fellowship with Him.
4)”And crowned him with glory & honor.”
i)Man was given a crown.He was given a scepter.Rulership was given to man by God.God appointed man as a ruler because of His grace & love.
ii)The beasts of the field & the fowls of the air were brought unto Adam to see what he would call them.Adam gave names to all cattle& to the fowl of the air & to every beast of the field.Gen.2:18,18.Man was given the privilege to rule over the rest of creation as God’s representative on this earth.Please read Heb.2:7.
