Re post 12: “YOU THINK IT only refers to aN ETERNAL, OMNIPRESENT, OMNIPOTENT& OMNISCIENT BEING”.

Yes, “God” - i.e. the NAME God (with a capital G) is exactly what you said.

I refer to all the fake gods and goddesses - like Baal, Thor Yahweh and Minerva - with a small g.

It’s like calling magicians “houdinis” after the Great Houdini; or calling a copied document a “xerox” after the real Xerox company which invented the process. There is only one Great Houdini, one Xerox Corporation, and one God.

The gods dies Charles! Your confuse with the word “GOD’ …YOU THINK IT only refers to aN ETERNAL, OMNIPRESENT, OMNIPOTENT& OMNISCIENT BEING(S)…but the term god/God- means many things:

god [god]
noun (plural gods)
1. supernatural being: one of a group of supernatural male beings in some religions, each of which is worshiped as the personification or controller of some aspect of the universe
Thor, the Norse god of thunder

2. figure or image: a representation of a god, used as an object of worship
the little bronze god standing in a niche above the altar

3. something that dominates: something that is so important that it takes over somebody’s life (informal)
worshiping the false god of fame

4. somebody admired: a man who is widely admired or imitated (informal)
He was one of the rock music gods of the early Seventies.

“Made To Love JEHOVAH!”I feel a breeze cover me called Jehovah
And daddy I’m on my way …Cause I was made to love…

Made to Love
by Toby Mac
Listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3afrg0aI350

The dream is fading, now I’m staring at the door
I know its over cause my feet have hit the cold floor
Check my reflection, I ain’t feelin what I see
It’s no mystery
Whatever happened to a passion I could live for
What became of the flame that made me feel more
And when did I forget that…

I was made to love you
I was made to find you
I was made just for you
Made to adore you
I was made to love
And be loved by you
You were here before me
You were waiting on me
And you said you’d keep me
Never would you leave me I was made to love
and be loved by you

The dream’s alive with my eyes opened wide
Back in the ring you’ve got me swinging for the grand prize
I feel the haters spittin vapors on my dreams
But I still believe
I’m reachin out, reachin up, reachin over
I feel a breeze cover me called Jehovah
And daddy I’m on my way
Cause I was made to love…

I was made to love you
I was made to find you
I was made just for you
Made to adore you
I was made to love
And be loved by you
You were here before me
You were waiting on me
And you said you’d keep me

Never would you leave me I was made to love
and be loved by you

I was made to love you
I was made just for you
Made to adore you
I was made to love
And be loved by you
You were here before me
You were waiting on me
And you said you’d keep me
Never would you leave me I was made to love
and be loved by you

Anything I would give up for you (nah, nah, nah, nah, nah)
Everything, I’d give it all away (nah, nah, nah, nah, nah)

Anything I would give up for you (nah, nah, nah, nah, nah)
Everything, I’d give it all away (nah, nah, nah, nah, nah)

Anything I would give up for you (nah, nah, nah, nah, nah)
Everything, I’d give it, I’d give it all away, Oh yeah

Cause I was made to love you (I was made to love you)
Yeah I was made to love you (I was made to find you)

Song of Praise for God

ADONAI by Petra
Listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_aolsbhAxA

This thirsting within my soul
Won’t cease till I’ve been made whole
To know You, to walk with You
To please You in all I do
You uphold the righteous and Your faithfulness shall endure
Adonai, Master of the earth and sky
You alone are worthy, Adonai
Adonai, let creation testify
[From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/p/petra-lyrics/adonai-lyrics.html]
Let Your majesty be magnified in me
Adonai you are an endless mystery
Unchanging consuming fire
Lift me up from mud and mire
Set my feet on Your rock, let me dwell in Your righteousness
When the storms surround me, speak the word and they will be still
And this thirst and hunger is a longing only You can fill

Ref: # 4

Charles, you are spot on in this post. However, I will add this. It is a linguistic fact that cannot be denied that “Elohim” is a plural word and means “gods.” To try to declare it as pluralis majestatis, is not common in Hebrew. However, to translate the Hebrew of Genesis 1:1 as: “In the beginning the gods created the heaven and earth” does not fit since the word bara = “create” is in singular. Furthermore, the word for “heaven”, shamay, is also in plural: shamayim. But the problem has a solution as I gave in another thread.

Of course” Jehovah” is man made and not the personal name of God like the Jehovah Witnesses proclaim. In fact you can add the vowels: i,i,i, to the consonants JHVH to arrive at JiHiViH which is equally as valid as Jehovah. Of course Jesus NEVER addressed his father by the name Jehovah.

In love and light

Angel, I will try not to differ much :)

I believe that Elohim is the plural form. i.e. gods.

Yahweh or Jehovah is the god of Israel (with all the adjectives and qualifiers).

The term “Lord” is a general term used for anyone with power or rank, such as Yahweh in the OT and Jesus in the new.

to all:

THE NAMES OF GOD IN THE OLD TESTAMENT:

ELOHIM……Genesis 1:1, Psalm 19:1 meaning “God”, a reference to God’s power and might.
ADONAI……Malachi 1:6 meaning “Lord”, a reference to the Lordship of God.
JEHOVAH–YAHWEH…..Genesis 2:4 a reference to God’s divine salvation.
JEHOVAH-MACCADDESHEM…….Exodus 31:13 meaning “The Lord thy sanctifier”
JEHOVAH-ROHI……Psalm 23:1 meaning “The Lord my shepherd”
JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH…….Ezekiel 48:35 meaning “The Lord who is present”
JEHOVAH-RAPHA………Exodus 15:26 meaning “The Lord our healer”
JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU……Jeremiah 23:6 meaning “The Lord our righteousness”
JEHOVAH-JIREH………Genesis 22:13-14 meaning “The Lord will provide”
JEHOVAH-NISSI………Exodus 17:15 meaning “The Lord our banner”
JEHOVAH-SHALOM……..Judges 6:24 meaning “The Lord is peace”
JEHOVAH-SABBAOTH……Isaiah 6:1-3 meaning “The Lord of Hosts”
JEHOVAH-GMOLAH……..Jeremiah 51:6 meaning “The God of Recompense”
EL-ELYON…………..Genesis 14:17-20,Isaiah 14:13-14 meaning “The most high God
EL-ROI…………….Genesis 16:13 meaning “The strong one who sees”
EL-SHADDAI…………Genesis 17:1,Psalm 91:1 meaning “The God of the mountains or God Almighty”
EL-OLAM……………Isaiah 40:28-31 meaning “The everlasting God”

now also when in the bible you see LORD; it refers to god himself. and Lord refers to jesus.

LORD; refers to master, father, creator, the holy spirit, and he who lives in the heavens.
Lord refers to jesus, son of god, son of man, and god in flesh who lives on earth with man.

this is believed to show that our father in heaven lowered himself from heaven and entered into a virgin woman; thus the birth of our lord jesus christ. in a man; yet still god. perfect and sinless. as new testament and old testament have shown and prophecies fulfilled.

and yes charles; i know you differ buddy.

YHWH (Yahweh) is the name of the god of Israel. Joshua (Jeshua, Jesus) was a common name in the OT, much like Ahmed, Mahmud and other derivates of Muhammad today.

JEHOVAH-the name of God! YAHWEH or JEHOVAH are both the name of God.Jesus means Jehovah Saves or Yahweh Saves or Jah Saves!

Source of excerpt below: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehovah
Jehovah (pronounced /dʒɨˈhoʊvə/) is an anglicized representation of Hebrew יְהֹוָה, a vocalization of the Tetragrammaton יהוה (YHWH), the proper name of the God of Israel in the Hebrew Bible.[1]
יְהֹוָה appears 6,518 times in the traditional Masoretic Text, in addition to 305 instances of יֱהֹוִה (Jehovih).[2] The earliest available Latin text to use a vocalization similar to Jehovah dates from the 13th century.[3]
Most scholars believe “Jehovah” to be a late (ca. 1100 CE) hybrid form derived by combining the Latin letters JHVH with the vowels of Adonai, but there is some evidence that it may already have been in use in Late Antiquity (5th century). It was not the historical vocalization of the Tetragrammaton at the time of the redaction of the Pentateuch (6th century BCE), at which time the most likely vocalization was Yahweh. The historical vocalization was lost because in Second Temple Judaism, during the 3rd to 2nd centuries BCE, the pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton came to be avoided, being substituted with Adonai “my Lords”.
King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

Bible in Basic English
So that men may see that you only, whose name is Yahweh, are Most High over all the earth.
