But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

One Bible Commentary on Romans 14: 10

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SETTING YOUR BROTHERS AT NAUGHT AND THE PUTTING OF BABES IN THEIR PLACE

Some would think that I am harsh toward babes in the faith. But discipline should be given to babes who does not know what they are doing and behaving like they know better! It is hard on the part of an elder in the faith to “spank” a wayward or puff up babe who thinks he is spiritually mature when he is not. But an elder brother should discipline them…lest these babes takes the reins and cause the seeds not to grow because of their childish ways and comments and meddling!

On the other hand setting your brothers at naught means that we despise, treat with hatred a brother in Christ w/o respect not even thinking that through your word such a brother or sister might be offended as a believer and cease to follow the Lord. Although sometimes the difference could be hairline…it takes prayer and discernment to see the difference between the two.

And an advise to babes if indeed you are Christ lambs:

Hebrew 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Psalm 131:1 LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.
