2 Bible Commentaries on Romans 8: 27
Romans 8:27
27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. (NIV)
27And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.(ESV)
An Old Testament perspective would lead us to conclude that God the Father knows our hearts and of course would also know the mind of the Spirit. But is that what Paul means? Or is he saying that the Son knows the mind of the Spirit and also searches our hearts? This issue gets at the activities of the Father and the Son and how they relate to the Spirit.
Neither the Orthodox Study Bible (Gilquist) nor the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible (Scott Hahn) says anything about v 27. Both the Reformation Study Bible and the Navarre Study New Testament skip over v 27.
Yet, from the vantage point of the revelations of the New Testament, we can see Jesus knew the minds of those who spoke to him, and knew what had happened to them even before meeting them. Saint Paul was, without fanfair, revealing a high Christology in vs 27.

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit always know the minds of men.
As our high priest, God the Son examines the heart, that is, the innermost self when He intercedes for us.
