For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

The word rendered “raised” is exegeiro which means “to resuscitate” and refers to raising someone from a death-bed or death itself. It is also the word used in 1st Corinthians 6:14 “…and will also raise up us by his own power.” God did not create Pharaoh for this purpose or raise him up to be king for this purpose, but God raised him from his death-bed and prolonged his life for this purpose.
