Song of Solomon 1: 11 Commentary

1. This woman looked great
a. To BEGIN with (v10)
2. These ladies will get a hold of her
a. And make her
b. Even MORE beautiful
3. I believe it is a simple fact
a. That a loved wife
b. WANTS to look good
c. For her husband
4. So buy those “Color Me Beautiful” books
a. Get help if you need it
b. And ask a girl from the SOUTH
5. I do NOT believe that scripture
a. Mandates that all women
b. Become a “Stepford wife”
c. Looking her Sunday-best at all time
d. And under all circumstances
6. But on the OTHER hand
a. Wives that look like they JUST
b. Jumped out of the clothes-hamper
c. Pretty much EVERY day of the week
d. Possess NO sex appeal at all
e. To any man with a brainstem
7. Wearing sweats and a sweatshirt
a. Is NOT exactly a “come-hither”
b. Encouragement to a husband
8. And yes, there IS a difference
a. Between dressing up
b. And DRESSING UP
9. A NEW pair of sweats
a. And a NEW sweatshirt
b. From Wal-Mart
c. Is not DRESSING UP
10. This lady knew how to tastefully dress
a. To appeal to her husband‘s
b. Sexual desires for her
11. She was NOT gaudy
a. Nor was she a neon advertisement
12. She tastefully knew how to enhance herself
a. So as to be pleasing to HER husband
