1. The Shulamite tells all of us
a. That sexual activity
b. Is simply WONDERFUL
2. But then she WARNS us
a. To NOT jump the gun
b. On sexual expression
3. There is not ONLY the warning
a. To wait until marriage
b. Before engaging
c. In sexual activity
4. But there is also the admonition
a. To not FORCE sex upon
b. Your married partner
c. Until the right time as well
5. We live in a sex-saturated culture
a. Bombarding us with worldly wisdom
b. That sex is to be indulged in
c. With anybody at anytime
6. Even teen-agers are mocked and ridiculed
a. If they are NOT engaged
b. In sexual activity
7. But we would do WELL
a. To HEED the Shulamite‘s advice
8. For the consequences of sexual activity
a. OUTSIDE of a monogamous marriage
b. Linger on far into our lives
c. Often with very damaging effects
d. Physically and emotionally
9. There are often feelings of GUILT
a. WONDERING if your partner
b. Will still love you
c. Leave you for someone else
d. Or talk about you to their friends
10. Whereas a monogamous marriage provides
a. For the spiritual and emotional
b. Stability and security of the couple
c. Unrealized in sexual relationships among singles
11. And God put His stamp of approval on sex within marriage
a. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous (Heb 13:4 ESV)
12. So enjoy the sexual relationship
a. Within MARRIAGE
b. And at the RIGHT time
