1. She hears his VOICE
a. And sees him as energetic
b. As he aggressively pursues her
2. Notice the EMPHASIS here during COURTSHIP
a. Is on VERBAL COMMUNICATION
b. And NOT physical contact
3. Instead of PAWING at each physically
a. Where potential “showstoppers”
b. Can get short-circuited
4. Courtship SHOULD be a time to discover
a. After the INITIAL attraction
b. To one another
c. If they are BOTH
d. On the SAME PAGE
5. It does no ULTIMATE good
a. If a couple gets along physically
6. But at the core of their personal values
a. They are MILES apart
7. The prophet of old echoed this very thought
a. Except they be agreed, can 2 walk together (Amos 3:3)
8. Examples of discussion during courtship
a. Reviewing each otheres doctrinal statements
i. One is charismatic, the other is NOT
ii. One is a Calvinist, the other is NOT
b. Their spiritual commitment to Jesus
i. One could be DEEPLY committed (chair 1)
ii. The other not so much (chair 2)
c. How they view attending church
i. One might want to be there at all services
ii. One might think twice a year is fine
d. How many kids they want
i. One may want to wait and only have 1 child
ii. One might want 6 and start immediately
e. Where they will live
i. One wants to live close to their parents
ii. The other wants to move across the country
f. Who will run the finances
i. And control the checkbook
